First Pinterest Project: Rain Gutter Bookshelves

And we have success! I'm tellin' ya, I definitely would not consider myself crafty in the artsy department. That's why Pinterest and me have a love-hate relationship. I pin things that look amazing and super easy, then I find myself walking around the Man Store, Goodwill and Michaels like a deer in headlights. I can't help thinking, "What in the world am I looking for again?!"

Thanks to my bestie, Jay Dawg, I was able to get exactly what I needed for the coolest shelves ever: rain gutter bookshelves. And thanks to my wonderful hubster who measured, printed out exactly what I needed and hung these bad boys, my kiddos have their own personal reading nooks.

One more book for my queue?

Just might have to make room for this one.

The Shack

Okay, this post is for all you book worms out there. Lately, I have been challenged in my thinking that staying away from secular (or even "christian") books might hinder gospel inroads.

I'll admit that I've avoided books because a christian icon spoke against it. Well, now I just don't have time to read. Have you seen what's in my queue? I'm barely making it through my God-edifying books, much less a book that could be somewhat controversial.

But, what do you think of the book: The Shack? I watched this video a few months ago and have been wanting to ask those of you who have read the book what your opinion is. Like I said, I don't have time to read it myself, and not sure if I will, but, if you have read it or plan on reading it, I'd like to know your thoughts on what Mark Driscoll has to say here.

These are the books that sit on my bedside table. My sweetie said I can't buy anymore books from the church's book table until I finish reading the ones I have. Problem is, I'm no bookworm. I didn't enjoy reading when I was younger, and now that there's a desire, I have no time. Go figure.

I just started reading Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. Although the book is targeted toward teens, the message is not lost on adults. Here's how the authors introduce the idea and message.



I can't go back and change my mis-spent teenage and young adult years, but I can teach my children and the kids around me that God and I expect more than what the world expects. And we can do it together. So, it doesn't matter if you have the teen years still ahead of you or if your head hurts thinking back that far, it's never too late to do hard things for the cause of Christ and glory of God.
